Prof. Dr. Manjiao Chi

Manjiao Chi is Professor and Founding Director at the Centre for International Economic Law and Policy (CIELP), Law School, University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), Beijing, China. He was previously Professor of International Law at the Law School of Xiamen University, China. His areas of research include international investment law, international trade law and international dispute resolution with a focus on arbitration/global governance. Previously, he worked in the Department of International Agreements and Law of the Ministry of Commerce of China. There he was involved in the negotiation of international economic agreements and dispute settlement in the WTO and investment protection area. His numerous academic affiliations include his membership of the Council of the Chinese Society of International Law, his membership of the American Society of International Law and his position as Deputy Secretary-General of the Administrative Council of the Xiamen Academy of International Law. He is regularly appointed as an arbitrator, consultant and expert witness in domestic and international dispute resolution proceedings.

Manjiao Chi has published numerous monographs, book chapters and articles in leading legal journals in Chinese and English. He was a Senior Fellow at the Käte Hamburger Kolleg / Centre for Global Cooperation Research (Hamburg), Edwards Fellow at Columbia Law School (USA), Visiting Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law (Heidelberg) and Visiting Fellow, UNIDROIT (Italy). He received his Ph.D. in law from Xiamen University.
