Prof. Dr. Steffen Hindelang, LL.M. (Sheffield/UK)
Since 2020 Professor of International Investment and Trade Law at Uppsala University, specialising in international commercial law, international investment law, European law and German public law.
From 2017 to 2022, he held a professorship at the Juridisk Institut at Syddansk Universitet in Denmark, specialising in European law, public international law and German constitutional and administrative law.
Prior to this, Prof Dr Hindelang held a junior professorship for constitutional and administrative law with international connections at the Freie Universität Berlin. From 2010 to May 2011, he was a research assistant at the Faculty of Law of the Humboldt University of Berlin at the Chair of Public Law, International and European Law (Prof. Dr Dr h.c. Ingolf Pernice) and at the Walter Hallstein-Institute for European Constitutional Law. From 2004 to 2009 research assistant at the Faculty of Law of the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen, Chair of Constitutional and Administrative Law, Public International Law, European Law and Foreign Policy (Professor Dr Martin Nettesheim). Senior Fellow at the Walter Hallstein Institute for European Constitutional Law. Scientific advisor at the International Investment Law Centre Cologne (IILCC).
Studies at the Universities of Bayreuth and Sheffield/UK (LL.M.) and the Philipps University of Marburg (1st state law exam) as a scholarship holder of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. Doctoral thesis on ‘The Free Movement of Capital and Foreign Direct Investment: The Scope of Protection in EU Law’ (OUP, 2009) at the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen as a scholarship holder of the Stiftung der Deutschen Wirtschaft.
Various publications and lectures on topics of European and international law, in particular the European free movement of capital, European and international investment law and the law of transition countries.
